As soon as we crossed the amazon border into Brazil Guarana was the most popular soft drink, although it’s not alcoholic we found it suitable for a review. Guarana is a climbing plant that is native to the amazon basin and Brazil, the berry is what provides the caffeine hit making this an ideal energy supplement.
We have seen guarana added many times to products in England and yet we had no idea what it was.
The first drink we tried was called Bare, it came in a bright yellow can and was our first taste of this Brazilian favourite
In the heat this sweet and energy giving drink quickly becomes addictive. Not wanting to gain too much weight we quickly moved on to the Zero version.
It’s pretty much the same without the added sugar.
We even found it an ideal mixer for the rest of our Medellin rum.
Throughout Brazil this was a good replacement for coffee but as soon as we left Brazil we quickly said good bye to this addictive Amazonian speciality.
